Province 2

Like many other countries, Nepal is also a federal country. So,  it’s official name is Federal Democratic Republic of   Nepal. Nepal has become the federal democratic republic country in 15^th jestha ,2065 but, because of various issues regarding the determination of federal units in Nepal, the federal system was not yet implemented in Nepal. But after the promulgation of constitution of Nepal 2015,federation system got implemented in Nepal. According to the constitution of Nepal,it divided into 7 states or province. 

  

Province 2 is named as mahdesh pardesh or Maithili pardesh. It has 9661 square kilometer which means it only occupies 6.56% of total area of Nepal. Comparing other with province of Nepal, it has 8 district which are sapthari,siraha,dhanusha,mohatthari,sarlahi,rauthat,

Bara,parsa. It is the smallest province by area and has smallest number of district as well. It is the only district of Nepal which has no mountain district. its capital is janakpur , also known as janakpurdham, is a centre for religious and cultural tourism. And its  largest city is birgunj.

 

Population

According to the census of 2011,its total population is 54,04,145 which means it is the second most populous province. Its population density is 559 per square kilometer which is the highest among all other provinces. Most of the people speaks Maithili,Bhojpuri,bajjika and few speaks nepali.

The human development index is 0.485 which is the second lowest among all others province.and literacy rate is 49.54%.

 

 

 

Religion in province 2

In this province majority of the population belongs to Hinduism holding 84.75% followed by islam 11.55% then Buddhism 3.01% and Christianity 0.14% and many more.
